History and Some Facts of Animation 

Do you Know ?  In India, after 1997. VFX is used in movies.

The Pea Brothers, directed by Gunamoy Banerjee and produced by New Theatres Limited, was released in Calcutta on 23 June 1934, making it the first Indian animated work to be released in theatres.

Dadasaheb Phalke, Father of Indian Cinema, is also the first Indian animator. In 1914, he made an animation film about the growth of a peapod into a plant through stop-motion animation.


VFX job has high scope in the future. Because nowadays, nothing film without VFX and in the old films, they used the Camera projection Technique.


Who was God father of animation?

Hayao Miyazaki

Ram Mohan (26 August 1931 – 11 October 2019) was an Indian animator, title designer and design educator, who was also known as father of Indian Animation and was a veteran in the Indian animation industry,

who started his career at the Cartoon Films Unit, Films Division of India, Government of India in 1956.

My Dear Kuttichathan ( My dear little goblin) is a 1984 Indian Malayalam-language fantasy film directed by Jijo Punnoose and produced by his father Navodaya Appachan under Navodaya Studio.

It was the first Indian film to be filmed in 3D format.

The Banyan Deer: India's First Animated Movie in Colour 


The Banyan Deer was the first major initiative undertaken by the Films Division of India to produce a full-fledged animated movie in colour format.

FDI was established in 1948 to capture the stories of India on celluloid; less than a decade later, it began setting up its Cartoon Film Unit. Animation was considered a great medium to instruct children, and according to Year of Freedom: Vol 11,

the unit was “set up to produce short films for children, instructional and educational films and films involving animation sequences.

The first Indian animated television series was Ghayab Aaya, which aired in 1986 and was directed by Suddhasattwa Basu.


The first Indian 3D and VFX were done for the television series Captain Vyom by animation.

In 1974 an animated educational short film was published by the Films Division of India ad agency.

It was titled ' Ek chidiya, anek chidiya' (one bird, many birds). It was broadcasted on Doordardarshan with an intention to teal children about teamwork and unity.
